Retrospect software has been protecting customer data since 1989. Initially, the solution was offered by Dantz Development. In 2004, the software was acquired by EMC, and seven years later it was offered to buyers and users under its own brand as Retrospect Inc. In June 2019, Retrospect became a subsidiary of StorCentric. In doing so, it joined the ranks of such notable companies as Nexsan and Drobo.
