Silex Technology – Share your USB device on the LAN
The Silex DS-510 allows you to quickly connect to and share USB devices on your network. It provides convenient access to printers, scanners, disk drives, card readers and any other USB-equipped device. With the DS-510, your USB device does not need to be connected directly to your computer, allowing you to place it anywhere on your network. In addition, the DS-510 provides multi-user access to the device.
MAIN BENEFITS:
- Printer Autoconnect – Works with Windows and Macintosh printing systems to easily share a local USB printer between multiple users using the autoconnect feature. Once printing is complete, the connection is automatically broken and the printer becomes available to the next user.
- Isochronous Transfer Mode – Enables webcams and sound cards that require uninterrupted, real-time data transfer.
- High compatibility – The Silex DS-510 is compatible with a variety of USB devices, disk drives, flash drives and other storage media, as well as scanners, printers, digital cameras, sound cards, displays, input devices, mixing consoles, etc.
- Virtualisation – The DS-510 is compatible with virtual software and environments such as Citrix, VMware, Microsoft Terminal Server and Hyper-V.
- No additional installations – the same drivers support connection over the interface as over the network. The included Silex SX-Virtual Link software accurately emulates a USB connection on a Windows or Mac computer, then routes packets over the network to the DS-510’s USB port.
- A complete solution, both the hardware and software of the DS-510 were developed and manufactured by Silex. The company provides technical services and personalisation, including rebranding, OEM and creation of individual, personalised designs. A Sooftware Developer Kit (SDK) is also available to customers for both client and server versions, allowing integration with any application. For more information, please contact the manufacturer.

What is SX-Virtual Link?
SX-Virtual Link is software developed by Silex for Windows and Mac computers. SX-Virtual Link accurately emulates a USB port on any computer that needs to access a USB device over the network. In this way, the computers „see” the USB device as if it were connected directly through the USB port, while it is actually communicating over the network with the Silex DS-510.
What is a USB device server?
This is a network attachment that uses Silex USB Virtual Link technology, which allows you to plug USB-enabled devices into your network infrastructure. Almost any device with a USB port can be shared between multiple users, who can use them as if they were locally connected to a computer. The software detects USB device servers and USB devices on the network, and then displays the results on screen. If a USB device is already in use by someone else, you can send a request to share it, and decide whether to automatically drop the connection after a set amount of time if there is no response. This makes sharing any USB device over a network at home or in the office extremely easy.
